Designing Co-Planned Accessible Lessons

For Teacher Teams and All School Based Staff

This one day workshop instructs teachers in how to provide access to all learners, by identifying barriers and considering Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Differentiated Instruction (DI) in their lesson planning for co-taught lessons.

Participants will learn:

  • How to utilize a universal design framework in order to address instructional barriers in general education inclusive classrooms
  • Foundations of Differentiated Instruction: Understanding Content, Product and Process for lesson planning
  • How to create an inclusive, differentiated lesson plan that provides access for the whole group, as well as for individual struggling students. Strategies will include both classroom-based low tech options as well as a focus on technology enhanced participation using available APPs, devices and software that facilitate access and participation for all students
  • Specific structures and techniques for effective differentiated classrooms:
    • Graphic Organizers
    • Interactive Note Taking Tools
    • Choice Boards
    • Tiered Lesson Planning 

Intended Audience:

  • General Education and Special Education Teachers in Co-Teaching teams, whether teams are together full-time or are flexible
  • Related Service Providers
